The 2019 Cancer Support Community’s Night of Chocolate was everything everyone loves – exceedingly successful, immensely meaningful and chock-full of chocolate.

The event raised more than $200,000, the largest amount raised in the event’s nearly 15-year history. Funds that help to provide evidence-based programs and services for people impacted by cancer—at no cost. These programs and services are designed to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of individuals and families, enabling them to achieve better health outcomes and improved quality of life.

And, on the frontlines? President of Involve Craig Lerner, who is also serving as Board Chairman of Cancer Support Community Central Ohio

“Cancer Sucks! Being part of Cancer Support Community has always been important to me and Involve,” said Craig. “As Board Chairman, it was an honor to serve at this event—and exciting to see just how much it has grown over the years. I’m always humbled by the generosity and support shown by our community to this organization, and this year more than ever as a record-setting amount was raised.”

This year’s “The Greatest Show on Earth”-themed gala, held at the Hollywood Casino Columbus on September 20, saw more than 50,000 pieces of chocolate offered to attendees by both local and international chocolatiers. Event attendees were also inspired as CSCCO honored many great participants, volunteers and partners. This year’s Honorary Event Chairman was Dr. Arthur GH Bing.

While it was chocolate-filled, this year’s event also was emotionally moving as young mother, Melissa James shared the journey she and her four-year-old daughter Scarlett have had navigating her battle with pediatric cancer since she was two. Melissa started a support group for other mothers traveling the road they never wanted to travel. During the event, gala attendees donated in support of their story and new programs supporting families dealing with pediatric cancer – all in service to CSCC’s
bigger mission … so that no one goes through cancer alone.
